02.08.05 Game Report vs Woody's

After an 8-1 loss last week to the Diablos, I mentioned how a team might be able to get away playing disorganized against a last place team, but not against the league champs. The Gators proved that theory last night with an 11-5 win over Woody's with only 1 natural defenseman on the ice.

Jeremy Christiansten finally got to play forward last night after 2 weeks on the blueline and he was red hot last night. He opened the scoring with a laserbeam snap shot that found the fivehole. Not long after that, Tom Savage took his patented slap shot from the top of the circle and it deflected off Woody's goalie's glove and into the net. It was pretty much all gravy after that.

Renee Hiltz provided the highlight of the night when she scored her first goal as a Gator in her first game with a wrister from the blueline that deflected in off a Woody's defender.

Christiansten had a natural hat trick in the first period and added another midway through the game. Brian Drake and Brian Pasono used their chemistry to notch a pair of goals each and Steve Rowe scored a "pool cue" goal cashing in on a rebound of a shot by Brian Mellor.

Kudos to team Woody's who proved again last night that while they might not be the best team on the ice, no one can touch them in the bar. Every man on the Woody's roster always seems to make it up to Stanley's for at least 1 postgame brewski. Final bar attendance score: Woody's 15 Gators 4

Hopefully we can all take a minute to just think about something...do we want to be a team that just disbands and goes our separate ways after this season? Or do we want to start right now at building something that can last for several years. Think about it boys.
