03.22.05 Game Report vs Main Place
There are 6 teams in the ESL Tuesday Men's League. Apparently the league bylaws state that the Gators are only eligible to play against 3 of them. Last night the Gators took on Main Place for the 3rd time this season in a rubber match following an overtime loss in their previous meeting. The Gators won the season series against Main Place with a 5-3 victory despite missing several key players. Jim Davidson was in Orlando, Renee Hiltz was pouring pitchers up at the bar, John Scully is on the DL with a back injury and Frank Warrener and Chris Conley were AWOL. After ESL's punk ass scorekeeper milked his obligatory minute off the clock before the referee's were even ready, they dropped the puck. Main Place got on the board first in this one when a backhander just floated over Jerry Suplicki's shoulder. They didn't hold that lead for long as Jeremy Christiansten cashed in a rebound of a shot by Steve Rowe to tie it at 1. Brian Pasono then scored on a sharp angle blast to give the Gators the lead for good. Christiansten extended the lead when Tom Savage found him all alone in front of the net and he deflected it in. Then Christiansten on a partial breakaway got tied up and slid the puck across the crease to Rowe who one-timed it into the open net. When Main Place finally scored to make it 4-2, the moron scorekeeper who must have been doodling in his Trapper Keeper instead of watching the game gave the goal to the Gators. Thanks! (Where do they find these guys, Mexico??) Pasono added another insurance goal with a quick wrister from the corner that found the fivehole. Jerry Suplicki and the Gator defense did an outstanding job maintaining the lead through the second and third periods of this game which, at times, seemed like the longest men's league game ever to be played on planet Earth. Tom Savage, Christiansten and John Davie did an excellent job killing off a 5 on 3 after Main Place's chief crybaby drew a penalty when he went down as if he was shot by a sniper after Mike Deer barely brushed into him. From around the league: Woody's held a 3-0 lead and was in danger of winning their 3rd straight before they realized they were Woody's last night and eventually lost to Team Log 5-3. Apparently Sammy has lost the magic. Next week it's a rubber match against the Diablos with guest goaltender Sam Desalvo!
