04.05.05 Game Report vs Woody's

Sammy Sweatpants has our number. He and Woody's overcame a 5-3 deficit with 8 minutes left in the third and beat the Gators 7-5 Tuesday night to take the season series 2-1.

Missing 7 players, the Gators picked up a few subs off waivers and they held their own. Bradley Ross played defense, and once we told him that this was a no check league (after he already logged 3 penalties) he settled in nicely. RIT hockey alumn Katie Baily filled in at forward, helping the Gators build the 5-3 lead they would eventually blow.

Sam DeSalvo once again took on the daunting task of guarding the net of the undermanned Gators. He hung in there under a barrage of shots in the first and after 1 the score was tied 0-0. John Davie brought the puck across Woody's line early in the 2nd and fed it to Brian Pasono who slid it across to Brian Drake and Drake one-timed it home to get the Gators on the board first. Brian Mellor grabbed a loose puck after a faceoff shortly thereafter and roofed it top shelf where all the good liquor is at. Drake scored on his 3rd breakaway of the night and Pasono scored again on a rebound and the lead was 5-3.

Woody's wasn't ready to head up to the bar just yet with 8 minutes left. They kept the pressure on and with some fortunate bounces and calls from the officials, scored 4 goals in about 2 minutes to take a 7-5 lead...and that's all she wrote boys.
