11.14.05 Gators Game Report vs The Sharks

-- Crapfest Alert!! --

When you play in a Wednesday league and have a game scheduled on a Monday, you're going to be missing some guys. That's just the way the cookie crumbles and last night the Gators were severely shorthanded taking on a tough Sharks squad.

Nevertheless, the Gators struck first to break the stalemate late in the 1st period. Steve Rowe broke in on goal and fired a shot and Chris Huber was there to cash in the rebound.

It looked like the Gators were poised to take control of this one but once again the shorthanded Gators were finding it difficult to mount any kind of offensive threat.

Towards the end of the 2nd the Gators were all over the Sharks. John Davie got a golden opportunity when a rebound bounced to him in the goal crease but he was robbed by the Sharks keeper who threw his leg out in desperation to make the save.

The Sharks took a 3-1 lead early in the third period and decided to protect the lead by hacking the crap out of any Gator that went near the puck. #2 for the Sharks should be kicked out of the league for his deliberate crosscheck to the back of the neck of Rowe which he followed up with an attempt to smash Rowe's trachea while he had him pinned to the ice. He got a double minor and a game misconduct which should carry as well at least a 3 game suspension. Jim Suplicki also was a victim when he got chopped down like a cherry tree in the corner. Just too many penalties in a 3rd period where the Gators needed to be focused on closing the gap.

The Sharks held on and preserved their 3-1 win.
