11.30.05 Gators Game Report vs 2 Left Feet

The last time the Gators faced 2 Left Feet they battled back from a 5-1 deficit to tie the game at 5 before one of 2LF's "all stars" bailed them out with a gamewinning goal in the last minute. Last night was quite a different story. The Gators hung tough throughout the entire game as both teams traded goals from start to finish.

It looked like it might be a long night for newcomer Rob "Tiger" Williams and the Gator defense when a 2LF winger slipped through off the opening faceoff and gave them a quick 1-0 lead 15 seconds in to the game.

On the very next shift John Davie with an aggressive forecheck got control of the puck and fired a perfect pass to Steve Rowe camped out in the slot. Rowe let loose a wrister that didn't beat 2LF's goalie, but Chris Huber smelled blood in the water, raced to the net, and snapped home the rebound to tie it at 1.

Then the "all star" line for 2LF hit the ice again. They were treated to a kicksave clinic, put on for them free of charge by Gator netminder Jerry Suplicki. They were able to keep their cycle going by moving the puck quickly around the perimiter and eventually regained the lead.

New dad Jeff Curtis carried the puck into 2LF territory where the Gators lauched an all out assault on the net. Bryan "Gabby" Curtis broke through to tie it again for the Gators when he was able to tap a rebound across the goal line.

Steve Rowe added 2 goals for the Gators, 1 on a quick wrister that caught everyone off guard and another off a nice feed through the D from Chris Huber that Rowe banked off the goalie pad, off his shinguard, and into the back of the net. That one tied the game at 4 but it wouldn't stay tied for long.

The same "all star" that got the gamewinner for 2LF back in September scored again with about 2 minutes left in the game. The Gators got some pressure on 2LF's net in the closing moments, but were unable to force overtime. Final score 5-4, 2LF wins again. The crowd said BOOO.
