10.05.05 Gators Game Report vs The Avalanche

Last night the Avalanche brought their unbeaten record to Gator Country and after a spirited battle they headed for the hills with 1 in the loss column as the Gators took this one 5-3.

Last week the Gators got goals from 6 different players and this week it was another gritty team effort that got the job done.

Less than 30 seconds into this one Jim Davidson got the Gators on the board when he fired a wrist shot from the point that caught the Avalanche goalie off guard. The 'Lanche would respond, taking a 2-1 lead until late in the first period when Jeff Curtis was able to bank one off the goalie's pad and in to tie it at 2.

John Scully spotted Chris Ryan poised alone at the left hashmark and fed him a perfect pass. Ryno wasted no time in depositing it just below the crossbar to give the Gators the lead for good. Scully added an insurance goal on a sweet snapshot from down low that ended up being the gamewinner after the 'Lanche pulled to within 1 at 4-3. With the clock winding down, Jeff Curtis got his 2nd of the night on an empty-netter that salted away the win with about 15 seconds left on the clock. Final score: 5-3.
