10.10.05 Gators Game Report vs
Anchor Inn
Another Monday night game found the Gators a bit shorthanded and the lack of bodies on the bench proved to be their achilles heel as the team broke down in the third against the Anchor Inn and lost a tough one 5-1. Anchor Inn came in to this game unbeaten and the Gators were determined to change that. Much of this game was played in the neutral zone as neither team seemed to be able to sustain possession of the puck to mount any credible offensive threat. Jerry Suplicki made several good saves to keep the Gators close, but they weren't able to put any pressure on Anchor Inn's goalie. It's easy to see why this team is undefeated as top to bottom they were all skating hard for loose pucks and they played excellent team defense. Even when we got the puck in their zone we couldn't get any shots through to the net due to the traffic in front. The Gators saw a call go their way when Steve Rowe fired a backhander that arguably crossed the goal line to make it 3-1 in the 2nd. That was all the offense the Gators could muster, however, and without their 3rd line of forwards they ran out of gas and lost this one 5-1. Tonight's 3 Stars 1. Jerry Suplicki - kept us in it 'till the tank ran dry 2. Jeff Curtis - had some of the Gators best chances on offense 3. Jim Davidson - took some good shots from the point Scoring Rowe from Davidson |
