11.02.05 Gators Game Report vs The Cuzzies

If I were unoriginal I'd just cut & paste last week's game report and this week's would be done. After all the two games were pretty much a carbon copy of each other.

Once again short benched, the Gators took on a talented Cuzzies squad. The Gators took the lead when Jim Davidson spotted Steve Rowe wide open in the slot and Rowe one-timed it just below the crossbar getting the Gators on the board first.

With time winding down in the first, the Gators were having a hard time getting the puck out of their zone and despite several saves by Jerry Suplicki, a Cuzzies forward was able to swat a rebound out of mid-air and knot this one up at a goal apiece.

That goal fired up the Cuzzies squad and they pumped in two more to take a 3-1 lead into the third period. Gator Captain Jim Suplicki, in an effort to create some offense, moved defenseman Jim Davidson to center to start the third and that move instantly looked like it was going to pay off.

Davidson's line sustained pressure in the Cuzzies zone for an entire shift and as it turns out, the Rowe line benefited from a worn out defensive corps as Rowe spotted Brian Curtis alone on the doorstep and Curtis scored his first Gator goal this year as he one-timed it on the backhand past the sprawling Cuzzies keeper.

3-2 was as close as the Gators would get in this one as once again the Gator fuel tank got stuck on "E" and Cuzzies pulled away and took this one by a score of 5-2.
