06.07.05 Game Report vs Tim Horton's Dead Hawaiians

Last night the Gators returned to the ice for the opener of ESL's Summer season. The team has a bit of a new look for the summer with first time Gators; Bryan Rowe, Dave Perkins, and Billy Christman. The Gators also welcomed back Jim Suplicki who missed the past season due to injury and the front office upgraded Chris Ryan's status from sub to full-time player after he decided not to move to the west coast.

The Gators took on the Tim Horton's Dead Hawaiians and interestingly enough none of them were either dead or Hawaiian. From the looks of them, they probably do spend a lot of time at Tim Horton's though, so I guess they got that part right.

It didn't take Billy Christman long to notch his first goal as a Gator. He got the team off to a quick start by banging home a rebound in the slot. The Hawaiian's struck right back though as they converted on a breakaway. The first period ended with the score 1-1.

Jeremy Christensen got the lead back for the Gators after he skated through the entire DH team like they were traffic cones, deked the goalie and calmly slid the puck across the goalline for a 2-1 Gator lead.

The pesky Dead Hawaiian's fought back and were able to tie it again on a tough angle shot from the boards right at the end of a power play. Renee Hiltz did a nice job keeping the puck in the offensive zone and she made a nice pass to Chris Ryan coming out of the corner and Ryno buried it fivehole to regain the lead.

DH would come back one more time as a forward was left all alone in front of the net and was able to score.

With the clock winding down in the 3rd period and the score tied at 3, Jeremy Christensen took a pass from Dave Perkins and ripped a slapshot that found it's way through the DH keeper. The Gators withstood a heavy attack for about the last 40 seconds and went on to win 4-3.
