08.09.05 Game Report vs The Retreat

The last time the Gators played The Retreat they lost 10-0. This time they knew what to expect. Being prepared doesn't really do a team all that much good however when you've got guys who never played for a coach lining up against 19 yr old's with D-1 experience. The Gators simply did not match up well against a Retreat team with a very short bench.

7 guys played for The Retreat last night against a full Gator bench again. This time the final result was 8-2.

That game last night was inspiring...I think I'll go sign up for a tennis league against beginners who are 10-20 years older than me and kick their asses every week. I'll be a total ass too and yell things at them like..."come on old man...you can't even hit the ball who the hell are you...??" It's gonna be great, my parents can come & watch too. They'll be so proud. I can't wait.

Ok (insert dream sequence re-entry music here)...back to the game. Again, not much to report on a penalty ridden crapfest of a game. Tom Savage banked one off The Retreat goalie's neck protector for the first Gator goal and Brent Warren added the 2nd on a rebound in the 3rd.

Dave Perkins was tossed again for merely threatening to shoot a puck at a player...this after one of the Retreat players got 2 minutes for purposely firing a puck at our bench...and admitting he did it on purpose. Nice officiating.

Tonight's 3 Stars

1. Whoever paid the $2,600+ upfront for The Retreat so they could have only 7 guys on the ice every week. Was it worth it?

2. Referee #1 - managed to milk like 5 minutes off the clock finagling over a call during running time in the 3rd.

3. Referee #2 - missed getting the 2nd star over ref #1 by only 2 bad calls.

Scoring

Savage from Warren
Warren from Rowe
