08.16.05 Game Report vs Tim Horton's
Dead Hawaiians
Last night the Gators took on Tim Horton's Dead Hawaiians again and swept the season series 3-0 with an 8-6 win. The Dead Hawaiian's started the game shorthanded despite one of the referee's saying that they needed 5 skaters and a goalie or 6 skaters to start a game. They ended up with 7 skaters and a goalie against 2 lines and 3 D for the Gators. After the ref attempted to milk 3 minutes off the clock (we stopped it) before he put the pegs in and before the scorekeeper even showed up we finally got this one going. Later on, the ref would yell at the scorekeeper for talking to the players telling her if she did it again he'd toss her. Come on guys, this league is for fun. She can't talk to us? Gimme a break. Red Hot Jeremy Christensen opened the scoring with a pair of goals and a nice feed to Rowe for a 1-timer and a 3-0 lead. Tom Savage made it 4-1 with a low slapper from the point. Then the Gators pretty much gave up and let the feisty Hawaiian's back in the game. They tied it at 4, then Brian Mellor got the lead back for the Gators when he cashed in a rebound. Mellor added another, then with the score 6-5 the refs decided to give the Hawaiian's a chance. They made 2 ridiculous interference / roughing calls and the Hawaiian's had a 5 on 3 power play. They would fail to convert and once the teams were back to full strength Dave Perkins scored twice and the Gators wrapped up the 8-6 win. Scoring Christensen from Perkins Tonight's 3 Stars 1.
