Week 8 -
11.08.06 Gators vs Miano Insurance
With a rough game against Miano Insurance, The Gators simply
couldn't come back for a win by the end of the night. Each
team had players in the box throughout the night, starting
out with one from each side in during the first period of
play. With no scoring until the very last minutes of the
first period, Miano Insurance their first goal in the net,
then again their second goal exactly two minutes later.
Heading into the second period, The Gators were already
down 2-0. Mid-period, Brian Drake (18) picked up the pace
and scored at 7:35 off an assist by both Dave Salafia (15)
and John Davie (76). Unfortunately, Miano Insurance was
just as ready to score, and put their third goal in with
3:39 left in the second period.
Proving the be a good line, Drake, Salafia, and Davie took
the second Gators' goal to the net, with Davie scoring just
seconds into the period, leaving the Gators only down by
one, at 2-3. Yet again, however, Miano Insurance took their
opportunity to score at the very next face-off, just eleven
seconds after the Gators' goal, slowly ending the hope of
a win for Team Green. Lastly, with little over a minute
left in the game, and Davie in the penalty box, Miano Insurance
scored again on a power-play, ending the game 5-2.
Clearly a tough-playing team, Miano Insurance overall had
five penalties during the course of the game, while the
Gators had two, both in the third period [Ryan (27), and
Davie]. Miano Insurance out-shot the Gators by twenty five
shots. Gator goalie Jerry Suplicki (35) did a great job
keeping out over forty shots throughout the night, with
much help from two particular defenders, Frank Warner (5)
and Seth Sealfon (2). Better luck next game!
