Week 9 -
11.15.06 Gators vs The Anchor Inn
For the second time this season, The Gators and The Anchor
Inn played another fast moving game, keeping shots and scoring
unusually low. Coming out with twelve players on each team,
the men had a hard night ahead of them, with neither team
scoring the entire first period. That is, until Jack Hibit
(9) reached the net with a mere 22 seconds left on the clock,
and banked a nice goal off of an assist by Bryan Curtis
(21), and Steve Randall (10).
Along with some great defending, Frank Warner (5) made some
smart offensive moves, scoring the second goal of the game
at 11:05 in the second period after nabbing the puck from
his player. There were a few close calls, but due in part
to Jerry Suplicki's skilled saves, capable defensive players
Warner, Doug Gardner (4), John Davie (76), and Brian Pasono
(17), who took some hard hits during the game, sending one
of his opponents to the penalty box in the second period.
On offense for the night was Jim Suplicki (19), making his
comeback...with snappy comebacks for his teammates all night.
Brian Drake (18) and Dave Salafia (15) did nice jobs offensively,
as well has pulling back to help the men on defense. The
Curtis brothers Jeff (8) and Bryan did a great job making
plays as well, with Bryan skating especially hard all night,
opening up the ice for some of the Gators' offensive opportunities.
Missing for the night were the same three absent for the
Gators' previous win over The Anchor Inn: Seth Sealfon (2),
Scott Magin (3), and John Scully (32).
A welcome change: The Gators out-shot their opponents, and
Suplicki (35) managed to hold onto his first shut-out of
the season, with a special mini-fan in the stands watching.
Unfortunately, no mini-toasters ovens could be located for
the night, as Chris Ryan (27) missed the game shopping for
one.
