Week 13 - 4.4.07 Gators vs 2 Left Feet
In an incredibly fast-paced game this past Wednesday, the Gators took on 2 Left Feet, and claimed their third victory of the season. Ending the game 4-3, the Gators overcame several penalties and close-calls to take it in the last few minutes of the third period. Starting off for the night, both teams kept up highly skilled efforts, but without much luck on either end. Then, with nearly five minutes left in the first period, 2 Left Feet scored the first goal of the night, and then again with little over one minute remaining, leaving the Gators down 2-0 headed into the second.

Fortunately, each Gator player was determined not to take another loss, and the boys answered 2 Left Feet's goals with three of their own. At the very end the second period, Dave Varecka (12) hammered in a goal assisted by Bryan Curtis (21), and John Davie (76). Then again just under one minute later, Mark Schirmer (11) put the puck in again, assisted by Varecka and Brian Drake (18). Ending the second period, Steve Randall (10) scored goal number three on passes from Brian Pasono (17) and Davie with just twelve seconds left. The last period remained quick and somewhat chippy, but the Gators managed to squeeze out one more goal just as their power play was ending. Jack Hibit (9) put in the game-winning goal on assists from Randall and Davie at 2:58 in the third, seconds before 2 Left Feet attempted a comeback, and scored once again before the final whistle, ending the game with a well earned 4-3 win for the Gators.

Jerry Suplicki tamed the 40-something shots on net all night, doing much better on a previous knee injury that kept him off the ice last month. As for the penalty box players: Daddy-to-be John Scully (32) visited the box once during the first period, along with his opponent. Doug Gardner (4) and Drake both took a trip to the box third period. While the Gators were outshot for the night, their misses were more post hits than blatant misses, and they showed a huge improvement in communication on the ice. Great game, guys!
